Welcome to the website of the Seaford Youth Forum!
Who are we?
The Seaford Youth Forum is a group of young people who work together and meet on a weekly basis at the Mercread Youth Centre in Seaford.
We are supported by the Targeted Youth Support Service as well as the Mercread Youth Centre. We work together as a team for the best interests of Young People and Children of Seaford, we act as forum for younger people to voice there views and make their voices heard.
The serving Young Mayor of Seaford as well as her/ his deputy are members of the group.
But membership is open to any young person within the town and we are openly recruiting.
What do we do?
Together and in partnership with other organisations and groups we have the opportunity to contribute to what happens in own home town, Seaford. We get to work on projects which improve facilities and services for young people. As well as this we also work on our own projects.
We also have a lot of fun! And the forum is very friendly and sociable.
What have we done so far?
So far we have been really successful!
From organising a summer of activities for Young People in Seaford. To the installation of the new Skate Park and Shelter. More recently our brand new Green Gym Facility was opened in the Salts Recreation Ground! This is in addition to fund raising and charity work we have undertaken; last year for example we raised over £500 from a “mocktail and cocktail” party organised by the group. We have also represented young people and undertaken surveys etc as well as bided for money on behalf of the town.
Who do we work with?
The forum is regularly consulted on issues regarding Young People in the town and is a member of the: Seaford Community Partnership, Seaford Youth Task Group and Lewes Youth Partnership. We often work in partnership with the local authorities and other voluntary groups.
- We are recruiting! –
All members are usually over the age of thirteen but membership is open to young people within the town and we are always looking for new members!
Seaford Youth Forum is a great place to meet new people, make new friends, give something back to the community and have fun all at the same time. If you want to get your voice heard or get things done this is the place for you.
We meet from 5pm – 7pm on Monday evenings at the Mercread Centre.
